Erik Gunnar Asplund is considered as the most important Swedish architect of the 20th century. He studied painting at the Royal Art Institute and at the Stockholm Free Architecture School. He taught architecture at the Royal Art Institute. His early production has been influenced by Neo-Classicism like the City Library (1924-1928).
